MITSU AB™ minimizes risk of suture-induced surgical site infections by inhibiting colonization of pathogens.
MITSU AB™ is a mid-term absorbable braided synthetic suture made of poly(glycoside-co-l-lactide) (90/10) coated with Triclosan, an antibacterial agent. It degrades by hydrolysis and assures predictable and reliable absorption.
Highlights
- Retains 75% knot tensile strength for up to 14 days
- Retains 50% knot tensile strength for up to 21 days
- Complete mass absorption between 56 to 70 days
MITSU™ is a mid-term absorbable braided and coated synthetic suture made of poly (glycolide-co-l-lactide) (90/10). MITSU™ degrades by hydrolysis and assures predictable and reliable absorption.
Absorbable Poly(glycolide/L-Lactide) Surgical Suture
MITSU™ braided coated synthetic absorbable sterile Poly(glycolide/L-Lactide) that is Polyglactin 910 Surgical Suture. It is composed of a copolymer made 90% glycolide and 10% L-Lactide. MITSU™ sutures coated with mixture containing equal parts of copolymer of glycolide, Lactide and Calcium stearate.
Poly(glycolide/L-Lactide) polymer and Poly(glycolide/L-Lactide) with calcium stearate exhibit non-pyrogenic properties. MITSU™ sutures are available in undyed and dyed (D and C violet No. 2) form.
Available in a broad range of suture sizes and lengths, MITSU™ comes with standard stainless steel needles of varied types and sizes. MITSU™ complies with the “Absorbable Surgical Suture” requirements as per the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and “Sterile Synthetic Absorbable braided strands” requirements as per the European Pharmacopeia (EP).
Highlights
- Retains 75% knot tensile strength for up to 14 days
- Retains 50% knot tensile strength for up to 21 days
- Complete mass absorption between 56 to 70 day
Advantages
MITSU (Polyglactin 910 suture) can be described as The Power Of Three:
- Best-in-class raw material ensuring reliability.
- Sharper needles for easy and effortless penetration.
- Consistent performance at every pass due to high needle-thread integrity.
Performance
MITSU™ Polyglactin 910 suture leads to growth of fibrous connective tissue due to (minimal) initial inflammatory tissue reaction. MITSU™ gradually loses tensile strength and is finally absorbed by hydrolytic process. During hydrolysis, the copolymer degrades to gylcolic and lactic acids which are then absorbed and metabolized in the body. Significant tensile strength i.e. 75% of the original is retained until initial 14 days, 40%-50% of the original is retained until 21 days (6-0 and larger) & (7-0 and smaller) and 24% of the original is retained until initial 28 days (6-0 and larger). There is a subsequent loss between four to five weeks post implantation. Complete absorption of MITSU suture usually takes place between 56 to 75 days.
Sterility:
MITSU™ Polyglactin 910 sutures are sterilized by ethylene oxide (EtO). Do not re-sterilize, if re-sterilize, product may degrade and not perform as intended. Do not use if package is opened or damaged. Discard opened remaining unused sutures.
Contradictions:
Being absorbable, MITSU™ suture is not recommended where extended approximation of tissues under stress is required.
Storage:
Recommended storage conditions for MITSU™ Polyglactin 910 sutures is between 15°C and 30°C, away from moisture and direct heat. Do not use after expiry date
Highlights
- Retains 50% knot tensile strength for up to 5 days
- Complete mass absorption by 42 days
FILAXYN™ endures strength for long-term wound support. FILAXYN™ monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is composed of Poly (p-dioxanone). These sutures are used when prolonged wound support is desirable and the surgeon prefers an absorbable suture.
Intended for use in general soft tissue approximation including use in ophthalmic surgery.
Preferred choice for abdominal wall closure and in immunocompromised/geriatric patients.
- Retains 54% knot tensile strength for up to 28 days
- Complete mass absorption within 180 to 220 days
- Prolonged wound support
- Predictable absorption
- Minimal tissue reaction
- Retains 60–80% knot tensile strength for up to 7 days
- Complete mass absorption within 90 to 120 days
MERISTEEL™ suture is available in a variety of lengths and attached to standard stainless steel needles of various types and sizes.
Stainless steel sutures comply with the requirements of the United States Pharmacopeia for Non-Absorbable Surgical sutures and European Pharmacopeia for Sterile, Non-Absorbable Surgical strands.

MERISOFT CHROMIC™ gives an optimal, time-tested performance. This gut suture is a natural absorbable suture prepared from purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) obtained from sheep intestine. It is tanned with chromium salts to delay its absorption by the body.
Merisoft chromic gut suture is treated with a chromium salt solution to resist the enzymatic action, prolonging the absorption time to 90 to 120 days.
Merisoft chromic™ suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.
